I went out on my first run today in preparation for the Great South Run 2012. I ran 1.9 miles with my wife Lara and unexpectedly found it quite exhilarating. I was expecting it to be painful and boring, and I suppose to some extent it was a little of both. It helped that I had a running partner and also Lara likes to keep the pace nice and slow, which although I found it quite frustrating, I have previously gassed myself out by running too fast. Running at a nice slow steady pace meant I (almost) ran the whole 1.9 miles. I felt at the end that I could probably run a bit further, but didn't really want to.
Now, sitting at my computer I am quite looking forward to the next run, althogh I not quite sure why. Perhaps I am looking forward to losing some of my extensive belly fat, or perhaps I am l an looking forward to being a bit fitter.
I wonder how much my legs will ache tomorrow!
